Fat Dissolving Injections
Lipodissolve, also known as slimming liposculture, is a non-surgical fat reduction and body sculpting technology, designed for trimming and reducing localised fat pockets in small areas such as the chin, knees and men’s chest. It not for bulk fat removal.

The procedure involves injecting small volumes of a mixture of phosphatidylcholine (PC) with deoxycholate (DC) and vitamins (some areas). A small needle is used to minimise pain/discomfort to patients and a whole area can be treated with only a few injections.

The mechanism of action of the mixture is similar to that of bile, wherein DC (a bile salt) breaks down the fat cells, and PC assists the digestion and drainage of released fat and protects the neighbouring mucosa from the corrosive action of DC. It has been shown that when injected in subcutaneous fat, DC alone leads to adipocyte death; however, there is less pain, bruising, and induration when combined with PC. Once the fat cells are destroyed, they are slowly removed by the macrophages (foam cells) in the concomitant inflammatory response, resulting in fat reduction in the treated area, while at the same time newly laid down collagen tightens the overlying skin (unlike liposuction where they tend to sag). After the fat has been "dissolved", you may need to have procedures such as Hifu (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) or threads to tighten the skin.

The techniques, efficacy, and side effects of lipodissolve have been the subject of several reports over the years and has gained increased popularity due to its great results.

The most commonly treated areas are: abdomen, thighs, hips, saddle bags, love handles, flanks, backs, buttocks, arms, neck (double chin) and lower third of face.

Usually 1 to 3 treatments are needed on each area for optimal results and treatment can be done 4 weeks apart.
The results are permanent as our body does not produce new fat cells as adults. Nevertheless, significant weight gain following the procedure may cause the results to look unsatisfactory as the remaining fat cells can significantly increase in volume and cause a similar presentation as before the treatment. So we highly encourage any patient that undergoes this treatment to continue a healthy diet and regular physical activities to avoid weight gain.
